হিন্দু ধর্ম
অনেক তথ্যবহুল একটা বই।
হিন্দু ধর্ম সম্বন্ধে বাস্তবিকই আমি যা জেনে এসেছি এতদিন, তার প্রায় কিছুই মেলেনি এই বইয়ের সঙ্গে।
এই বইটিতে লেখক মূলত একটা ধর্মের উৎপত্তি থেকে ক্রমাগত ইতিহাসটা সংক্ষেপে আলোচনা করেছে৷ হিন্দু ধর্ম বিশাল বপুর একটা বহর, আর মাত্র দেড়শো পৃষ্ঠায় তাকে আঁটানো খুবই কষ্টসাধ্য একটা কাজ, যে কথার এক্সপ্রেশন প্রকাশের জন্য অন্তত ৫ টা শব্দের দরকার, লেখক সেখানে ১ শব্দে তা করেছেন৷
প্রথমত যে কথাটা মনে হয়েছে আমার এই বইটি পড়বার পরে তা হচ্ছে, মূল হিন্দু ধর্মের সাথে ইসলাম ধর্মের খুব বেশী সাংঘর্ষিক উপাদান নাই। মূল হিন্দু ধর্মেও একজন নিরাকার, সর্বব্যাপী, একেশ্বরের কথা বলা আছে। এই বইটাতে তা কয়েকবার উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে৷
আমার মনে হয় এটা একটা আন্ডাররেটেড বই। হিন্দু ভাইদের উচিত তাদের এই বইটা সাজেস্ট করা যারা একটা বেসিক ধারণা নিতে চায় হিন্দু ধর্ম সম্বন্ধে। আর মুসলিমদেরও এই বইটা পড়া উচিত, হিন্দু ধর্মের কনসেপ্ট টা জানবার জন্য। কারণ, দুইটা ধর্মই এই উপমহাদেশে পাশাপাশি অবস্থান করছে, কিন্তু একে অন্যকে ভালোভাবে জানে না।
অবাকই হয়েছি যখন কৃষ্ণ স্বয়ং এক পরমেশ্বরের উপাসনার কথা বলছে অর্জুনকে, নিজেকে উপেক্ষা করে৷ কিন্তু বর্তমানে তো দেখি সবাই পরমেশ্বর ছেড়ে কৃষ্ণকেই উপাস্য বানিয়েছে।
আর রামের কোনো মোটাদাগে উল্লেখই পাইনি আমি৷ রাম একজন সাধারণ কিন্তু অসমসাহসী রাজপুত্র ছিলেন, কোনো দেবতা নন৷
কিন্তু বেচারাকে ভগবানের আসনে বসিয়ে কী খেলাটাই না খেলা হচ্ছে।
যাইহোক, বইটা একটা অবশ্যপাঠ্য বলেই আমি মনে করি৷ শুরুর নির্ঘন্ট টা অমর্ত্য সেনের রচনা৷ সেটাও আরেক কাহিনী।
